Discipline: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Gi
The new Diesel Gym BJJ Academy in Canary Wharf is run by Checkmat team of Monstro and Eduardo, both native Brazilians and both vastly experienced black belts and competitors. It is also the UK HQ for the ever growing and successful Checkmat team created by World Champions Leozinho and Ricardo Vieira.
The Academy opened 5th October'09 and with a growing timetable including lunchtimes, evening and weekend sessions.

Monday - Friday, 12pm - 2pm Open Session
We understand that peoples lunchtimes vary from day to day so don't worry about trying to get to the Academy at a specific time - there will be a blackbelt there available to look after you throughout the lunchtime period.
Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 8pm - 9.15pm Open Session.
Training available to all levels, although if you are a complete beginner we do suggest you supplement these sessions by attending our "Beginner" sessions on Friday (see below).
Thursday, 6.30pm - 8pm After Work Session.
This training is once again open to all levels and designed for those of you who rather train straight after work.
Friday 6.30pm - 8pm Beginners class
These sessions are aimed at the complete beginner. Although beginners can join in with any of our other classes, we do suggest that you supplement your training by attending these classes which are aimed at covering the true basics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Saturday 2pm - 4pm Open Session
A general session open to all levels.

OPTION 1: Pay per class: Each individual class costs £15
OPTION 2: Pay Weekly: The Diesel Gym weekly saver scheme - only £25, and attend any of the Diesel BJJ Academy classes within the seven day period
OPTION 3: Pay Monthly: The most cost effective option is our monthly supersaver. Commit to a minimum of 6 months and you have access to every class for as little as £80 per calendar month.

Monstro is a Black Belt under Carlos 'Portugese' Eduardo and is an instructor with Checkmat BJJ. Monstro a Pro MMA athlete in the UK MMA scene and an international Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor, winning such prestigious tournaments as the Copa De Cataluya Open 2008, in Barcelona. Monstro is a sponsored athlete with Tatami Fightwear and is one of their most prolific athletes.
He started BJJ in 1996 with Huanderson Pavao, at the same time he started training Judo with Master Mario Campanella ,who gave him his Judo brown belt.
In 2003, as brown belt in BJJ and Judo, he moved to Brasilia to train with Carlos 'Portugues' Vieira. In December 2004 he was awarded with his BJJ Blackbelt from Carlos Portugues Vieira. In 2006 he moved to London where he is based at the moment competing, and helping to improve BJJ in UK.

Eduardo started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Rio de Janeiro in 1994 and has been a black belt since 2006. He is an expert in professional, high level teaching in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and Submission.
