Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques, from a mixture of martial arts traditions and non-traditions, to be used in competitions. The rules allow the use of striking and grappling techniques, both while standing and on the ground. Such competitions allow martial artists of different backgrounds to compete.

The term may also be used, less correctly, to describe hybrid martial arts styles.

Modern mixed martial arts competition emerged in American popular culture in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Initially based on finding the most effective martial arts for real unarmed combat situations, competitors of various arts were pitted against one another with minimal rules for safety. In the following decade, MMA promoters adopted many additional rules aimed at increasing safety for competitors and to promote mainstream acceptance of the sport. The name Mixed martial arts was coined by one of the developers of these rules Jeff Blatnick a former Greco-Roman wrestler and Olympic gold medallist. Following these changes, the sport has seen increased popularity with pay per view reach rivaling boxing and professional wrestling.

  Tommy "Gun" (MMA Lead instructor and Team Manager)

Is the resident lead instructor of the newly formed Diesel Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) camp.

Tommy retired undefeated MMA competitor and veteran of the early Cage Rage shows has more experience than most in this arena. Trained and managed by infamous Cage Rage creator Dave O'Donnell. Now he is building a distinguished acting and stunt career having appeared in numerous tv and film projects including being a MMA competitor in the new British made film "Ten Dead Men".

  Tory "da Omen" Groman

Tory is one of the instructors for the Diesel MMA camp. A Frenchman with a background in full-contact kick-boxing, capoeira and krav maga, he has been training MMA under Dave O' Donnell (of Cage Rage fame) for nearly five years, competing in amateur grappling and in the professional UK MMA circuit, and a regular sparring partner to some of the biggest names in UK MMA . His varied experience has helped forge a positive and hard-working attitude, and exposed him to different camps and training experiences in different countries. He places a great amount of emphasis on conditioning and fitness work, whilst masking his grueling agenda behind a friendly demeanor. His appreciation for MMA stems from its versatility in combat and the intensive physical and mental effort it requires from its practitioners, helping them hone their talents beyond a pure striking or grappling background. He firmly believes that training all aspects of the fight game is the key to providing athletes with the calm confidence and fitness both in and out of the fighting arena.

Of course our MMA team, by its nature, is fully supported by our specialist Thai Boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teams.
